Funkmaster Flex has quickly become a one-man entertainment conglomerate. He is a multiple gold recording artist, a top rated DJ - an on-air personality/mixer at the number one radio market in the country (Hot 97 in New York City ), affiliated with Jammin 94.5 in Boston, Power 106 in LA, Power 99 in Philadelphia and WEDR in Miami, the hottest club DJ, MTVs celebrity DJ, the founder and CEO of his own record label entitled Franchise Records, the founder and CEO of Franchise marketing, a manager of the most influential DJs in the top markets in the country and a player in the automobile industry. Funkmaster Flex has quite simply done it all and shows no signs of slowing down.
This year Funk Master Flex is extremely busy with radio, a new album and the car ventures.
Not only does Flex spend 26-hours a week at Hot 97.1, but he also is busy working on his highly anticipated sixth album: Funkmaster Flex 60 Minutes of Funk, Volume V: The Mixtape. With five gold records to date, this will surely be no disappointment.
Spinning at the hottest parties and being affiliated with the most impressive talents just adds more prestige to Flex抯 resume. He has played at parties for Mariah Carey, Ted Fields, Russell Simmons, Whitney Houston, Clive Davis, P. Diddy, Nelly, Destiny抯 Child, Columbia Records?Grammy party and with Alicia Keys at Radio City Music Hall.
It抯 not everyday that celebrity DJs are seen on national television, but in Flex抯 case it is a frequent occurrence. From DJing on The View, the Ricki Lake Show, the American Music Awards with Eminem and Dre, the Video Music Awards with Nelly in 2000 and the house DJ at the Video Music Awards in 2001, it is hard to turn on the TV and not see Flex.
Not only is Flex a powerful DJ, but he also consults some of the most powerful DJs in the top markets in the country and overseas, including DJ Mister Cee (WQHT in NY), Cipha Sounds (WQHT in NY), Big Kap (WQHT in NY), DJ Cory AK (WUSL in Philly), Funk Regulata Celo (WPGC in DC), DJ Khaled (WEDR in Miami), Boogie D. (WCHH in Charlotte), Tim Westwood (Radio One in London) and DJ Cut Killer (Paris).
Flex is also creating yet another empire. He is acting as a car consultant to all the major players in both the music and sports industries. He has a celebrity car club with members like DMX, Nelly, Shaquille O扤eal, David Justice, Missy Elliot, Fat Joe, Baby (Cash Money Millionaires) and Faith Evans. He is also preparing for his second celebrity car show in August featuring cars from Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy, The Cash Money Millionaires, and Swizz Beatz.
